They are the little blood sucking pests that spread in the winter months and seem to be the bane of the cottage industry.

They are those little brown / black specks under the bedspread, your sheets and dresser.

And in the walls too.

They are a constant nuisance and rather annoying.

All summer long there will be that one load of laundry that I have had to sit and wait for because there is a stain that refuses to be removed.

Then there are the little marks on the bathroom walls and just about everywhere else.

I have learned not to use bleach as that just attracts them to other rooms.

They go in droves in the fall.

And they just hang around waiting until they find a nice warm place to hole up for the winter.
And there are even bed bugs that don't move around in the winter.

Maybe the heat has kept them from nesting.

Are you a light sleeper?

Bugs just love to get you when you are in the deepest of sleep.

If you are a light sleeper you have been getting up and checking the sheets for a bug every night and when you find it just pick it up with a tissue.

Yes, it is still alive.

You think you can toss it in the wash and they will just die in the water?

No, they wriggle right back out of the washer and straight back into your bed.

I wonder how many people make the bed each night?

The chances are, if you are asleep when they get in bed with you, it will be because you are so tired you didn't even realize they got in bed with you.

This morning I checked the sheets before I went to the washroom and sure enough, there it was - a lovely black wet spot.

A close - up of the bug.

This is another reason why you are not supposed to keep pets in the bedroom.

There are a lot of cats that will just come up on the bed and start lying on you.
